This beautiful pattern was designed by Kate Davies in Birlinn Yarn pure Scottish wool. Her creative inspiration came during a brisk, windy walk around the Udal peninsula in North Uist to the remains of a Neolithic wheelhouse.

The pullover’s circular yoke references these ancient round structures and features a motif that is common in traditional Hebridean ganseys - the tree of life.

Knitted in the round from the bottom up.

Our yarn is a limited edition, seasonal product. In the Outer Hebrides, we shear our sheep on our crofts in late June. The wool is then graded, bagged and sent to the mill for spinning. After that there is no more … the dye is set.
