Our Shillay 'Sileigh' yarn evokes the beautiful turquoise waters as you approach Shillay island. Situated northwest of the Sound of Harris in the Outer Hebrides on the brink of the Atlantic, it takes its name from the old norse for seal island 'selr-øy'. Blissfully isolated from human disturbance, grey seals pup here in their hundreds during November. Without sheep, the sea pink flowers are lush and knee deep. A hidden island gem and one of my favourite places to sit in silence just observing and listening to our island wildlife.
Shillay is a soft, sea-washed turquoise that looks great knitted up on its own or combine it with one of our Natural yarns or Hebridean colours.
