At The Birlinn Yarn Company we are seeking a knitting designer who understands our established brand but who could give us a wee contemporary twist.

Our brand definition incorporates: Norse and Hebridean heritage and culture; Seafaring and Wilderness; Traditional croft practice and Sustainability.

We regard our brand values as: Quality and purity; Positive and meaningful engagement with customers; Valuing local heritage and culture; Caring for our fragile and unique island ecology and Global environmental issues.

We would like our new branded knitting pattern designs to be influenced by:

-       Spirit of adventure, wild places, ‘vintage’ explorer

-       Scandinavian purity, natural palette, pared back aesthetic

-       the Norse origin of our Hebridean sheep

The winning designer will see their patterns developed into two small-scale knitting sets. Their prize will be a week holiday in Lamraig Thatched Cottage on the beautiful Hebridean island of Berneray during summer 2018 plus £200 travel/spending money.

If this appeals to your creative sensibilities and you fancy a peaceful Hebridean holiday then, please download Competition Design Brief for full details.

Enquiries and proposals should be submitted via email to: meg@birlinnyarn.co.uk

Competition closing date extended to: Friday 18th August 2017 17:00.
